1. As an essential raw material for producing nitrate nitrogen fertilizers (such as ammonium nitrate, potassium nitrate, etc.), aqua regia, nitroglycerin (mixed with concentrated nitric acid and sulfuric acid), nitrocellulose, nitrobenzene, picric acid, and nitrate esters, it is also used to produce explosives containing nitro groups. 2. Nitric acid is also used to refine metals: it first oxidizes impure metals into nitrates, removes impurities, and then reduces them. Nitric acid can passivate iron without further corrosion. 3. Toluene reacts with concentrated nitric acid and concentrated sulfuric acid to produce nitrated explosives. 4. As an organic synthesis raw material, concentrated nitric acid can nitrate benzene, anthracene, naphthalene, and other aromatic compounds to produce organic raw materials. A mixed acid of nitric acid and sulfuric acid, commonly used in industry, reacts with 30% benzene to produce nitrobenzene, which is then hydrogenated to produce aniline. It is an intermediate in the synthesis of dyes, pharmaceuticals, and pesticides. To produce oxalic acid, crop waste such as corn kernels, sugarcane bagasse, husks, and peanut shells are used as raw materials to react with nitric acid to produce oxalic acid. The reaction of nitric acid with propylene, ethylene, and ethylene glycol can also produce oxalic acid. |
