Characteristics of dilute sulfuric acid

1. It can react with most metals (more active than copper) and the vast majority of metal oxides to generate corresponding sulfates and water;

2. It can react with salts containing acid ions that have weaker acidity than sulfate ions, generating corresponding sulfates and weak acids;

3. Can react with alkali to generate corresponding sulfates and water;

4. It can react with pre hydrogen metals under certain conditions to generate corresponding sulfates and hydrogen gas;

5. Under heating conditions, it can catalyze the hydrolysis of proteins, disaccharides, and polysaccharides;

6. It can act with an indicator to turn the purple litmus test solution red and prevent the colorless phenolphthalein test solution from changing color.

Product Storage

Sulfuric acid or products that contain concentrated sulfuric acid should be stored in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Sulfuric acid should not be stored indoors in large quantities, to prevent the possible accumulation of vapors.
