Sulfuric acid (Chemical formula :H2SO4), the most important oxygenated acid of sulfur. Anhydrous sulfuric acid is colorless oil liquid, 10.36ºC crystallization, usually used is its various concentrations of aqueous solution, by the tower method and contact method. The former is crude dilute sulfuric acid, the mass fraction is generally about 75%; The latter results in pure concentrated sulfuric acid with a mass fraction of 98.3%, boiling point of 338ºC and relative density of 1.84.
Sulfuric acid is a strong inorganic acid that can react with the vast majority of metals. High concentration sulfuric acid has strong water absorption and can be used as a dehydrating agent to carbonize carbohydrate containing substances such as wood, paper, cotton and linen fabrics, and biological skin and meat. When mixed with water, it also releases a large amount of heat energy. It has strong corrosiveness and oxidizing properties, so it should be used with caution. It is an important industrial raw material that can be used to manufacture fertilizers, drugs, explosives, pigments, detergents, batteries, etc. It is also widely used in industries such as purifying petroleum, metal smelting, and dyes. Commonly used as a chemical reagent, it can be used as a dehydrating agent and sulfonating agent in organic synthesis.
